What is your experience as a tutor or teacher?
I am a full professor of English in China and taught English in college in China for 23 years. Apart from undergraduate and graduate students I also taught students of all other age groups, from pre-school to seniors. In addition to teaching English I have also taught Chinese to students of various cultural backgrounds, in China and in America.
Specialties – What subjects are you best at?
My specialties are languages, but as an experienced professor and scholar my expertise in culture can also help students raise their awareness in cultural differences, including differences in religions and philosophies, etc.
What days and times are you available to tutor?
The afternoons, except Wednesday. Evenings will do also.
Where did or are you attending school? What degrees do you have?
I am an ABD (all but dissertation) at University of La Verne, getting my doctoral degree. I already have a master’s from ULV.
What cities are you okay with tutoring in (i.e. how far are you willing to drive to tutor)?
Cities around Chino should be fine with me. I prefer it to be within 15 miles.
Where do you want to tutor? In public areas only or in both Public and In-Home Tutoring?
I’m OK with both public and private places.
What are your hobbies when you are not working?
Music, TV, reading, cooking, taking a walk, or just staying lazy.
What accomplishments have you achieved while working as a tutor? For example: Helped student go from a C in math to an A.
I helped a high school student from Taiwan to be successfully enrolled in a college in the L.A. area (2010-2011).
What do you enjoy the most about tutoring?
The relationship. Because of the age difference I treat my students as my children with passion and love. I do not only care about them in the academic domain but focus on the general healthy development of the kid as a fine human being.
