- What is your experience as a tutor or teacher?
While at UCBerkeley, I tutored University Physics for the Biology Scholars Program for two years. Additionally, I assisted with classroom activities at the some of the elementary schools in the city of Berkeley. I also tutored 9th graders in Mathematics and Language Arts. I have also tutored friends’ parents in college Algebra and Intermediate Algebra. Working as a camp counselor has also given me a great understanding in working with children from 7yrs to 17+ yrs of age!
- Specialties – What subjects are you best at?
I am very comfortable with Mathematics, and have taken College Calculus. I am also comfortable with Biology. I served as an Editor, and am very comfortable assisting in Reading and Writing as well!
- What days and times are you available to tutor?
I am available Mondays-Fridays, from 3pm-8pm. If known in advance, I can adjust to some schedules and times! I can also accommodate weekends, in the morning, and early afternoons!
- Where did you attend school? What degrees do you have?
I attended the University of California, Berkeley, where I received a B.A. in Molecular and Cell Biology. I am currently pursuing my Master’s Degree at Western University of Health Sciences.
- What cities are you okay with tutoring in (i.e. how far are you willing to drive to tutor)?
I am comfortable tutoring in Pomona, LaVerne, Chino/Chino Hills, Glendora, West Covina, Claremont, SanDimas, and Montclair.
- What are your hobbies when you are not working?
I like reading about Nutrition. I also enjoy dancing! Doing arts and crafts is also a great pastime of mine!
- What accomplishments have you achieved while working as a tutor/teacher?
Working as a Physics tutor, I encountered several students who were on the failing/ D level, and with consistent group tutoring and individualized attention, they were able to pass the class. While tutoring a friend’s parent, I also encountered the same success and helped his grade go from failing to a C.
- What do you enjoy the most about tutoring/teaching?
I really enjoy when one of my students begins to understand the material. I like when they start using the same language I am using because it means that it is beginning to sink in! I also enjoy seeing them smile when they have done great on a test or retrieved the correct answer on a problem!
