- What is your experience as a tutor or teacher?
During the summer of 2012, I was selected over numerous candidates by a program known as Education for the Poor to teach under privileged children in Vietnam to speak, read, and write in English. I prepared creative lesson plans for over 75 students to understand and excel throughout a timeline of 5 weeks. In addition, I also have previous experience in a Children Center setting where I assisted teachers tutoring toddlers in various subjects.
- Specialties – What subjects are you best at?
The primary two subjects that I am best at would be Math and Chemistry. I am proficient in most mathematical subjects including: Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-calculus, and Statistics. I am also proficient in general Chemistry, and have taken over 6 courses during college. In addition, I also have a basic understanding of Organic Chemistry. I am capable of tutoring other subjects such as English, Business, Physics, and Biology.
- What days and times are you available to tutor?
I am currently available from Monday-Saturday anytime as long as I’m notified at least a day in advance.
- Where did you attend school? What degrees do you have?
I attended California State Polytechnic University, Pomona and obtained a Bachelor of Science in General Biology.
- What cities are you okay with tutoring in (i.e. how far are you willing to drive to tutor)?
I prefer to tutor in Chino Hills or Pomona, but am willing to drive up to a 15 miles radius from Pomona.
- What are your hobbies when you are not working?
I love to read and play sports during my spare time.
- What accomplishments have you achieved while working as a tutor/teacher?
During my summer program in Vietnam, I was able to teach some of my students to a level where they were able to communicate in English. This task was almost impossible prior to the program, but as time progressed they so did their English skills. I have also tutored multiple friends during college helping them obtain the desired grade in Chemistry.
- What do you enjoy the most about tutoring/teaching?
Like most tutors/teachers, I find it most gratifying when my students understand the concepts that may have not been apparent at first. When they finally developed their skills to a level where they no longer need that extra help, I cannot help but feel rewarded.
