- What is your experience as a tutor or teacher?
Even back in elementary and junior high school, teachers would assign me to struggling students for one-on-one help. In high school, I volunteered as a teacher’s aide, which sometimes involved contributing to the lesson. In college, I formed and led study groups for various subjects. After graduation, I began working as an AVID tutor at a local high school.
- What subjects are you best at?
I majored in psychology and excel at English, and I am proficient with elementary math, algebra, and geometry.
- What is your schedule like? What days and times are you available to tutor?
I am available after 1PM, seven days a week.
- Where did you attend school? What degrees do you have?
I attended Chaffey College in Rancho Cucamonga and California State Polytechnic University at Pomona and graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in psychology.
- What cities can you tutor in (i.e. how far can you drive to tutor)?
I live in Chino and am willing to tutor in any number of nearby cities: Chino Hills, Pomona, Ontario, Upland, Montclair, Claremont, Covina, Diamond Bar, Rancho Cucamonga, or Norco. I am most comfortable with a 15-20 mile radius, but I am open to other possibilities as needs arise.
- Are you open to tutoring students via Skype or another online platform?
- What are your future career goals?
I am considering substitute teaching, becoming a probation officer, or going to grad school with the intent to research cognitive psychology.
- What are your hobbies? What do you like to do for fun?
In my free time, I can usually be found reading, painting, doing random online research, catching a movie, and hanging out with my friends. I like exploring new venues and broadening my artistic, culinary, and musical horizons.
- What accomplishments have you achieved while working as a tutor/teacher?
I once raised a struggling English student from a C to a B, and I helped a classmate move from failing to passing in college-level math.
- What do you enjoy the most about tutoring/teaching?
I find the process to be intrinsically rewarding; the moment when something “clicks” and the student understands is very satisfying. I also relish the opportunity to act as something of a mentor and offer advice and wisdom from my experience to those who seek it.
