- What is your experience as a tutor or teacher?
I have been a private tutor for the last 4 years teaching math analysis, AP chemistry, and algebra 2 for students in the Walnut Valley Unified School District. I also assist my mother in her classroom for a combo class in kindergarten and 1st grade, particularly dealing with children with disabilities such as ADHD or autism. Additionally, I have worked as a math tutor, for other companies, with students from kindergarten through 12th grade. Lastly, I was a peer tutor at UCI for general chemistry.
- What subjects are you best at?
I am extremely comfortable teaching math up to calculus which includes basic math principles, algebra, math analysis, pre-calculus, trigonometry, and geometry. I can also teach organic chemistry, chemistry, and biology (physiology, developmental cell biology, neurobiology, ecology, marine biology, and molecular biology) based on my undergraduate education.
- What is your schedule like? What days and times are you available to tutor?
Tutor is currently not available.
Tutor’s schedule is subject to change.
- Where did you attend school? What degrees do you have?
I received a Bachelors of Science from the University of California, Irvine in Biological Sciences with an interest in Neurobiology.
- What cities can you tutor in (i.e. how far are you willing to drive to tutor)?
I am available for students within a 15 mile radius from Walnut, CA. That includes Brea, Fullerton, Chino Hills, Diamond Bar, Covina, West Covina, and Glendora.
- Are you open to tutoring students via Skype or another online platform?
I am very open to the idea of teaching via Skype or Google Video or creating special YouTube videos for the student to cover topics for them to review on their own time schedule. I have previously done this for a student that was home schooled and wanted a whole chapter of algebra to be done via youtube videos for him to review and learn the concepts during a finals week where I was unable to meet him.
- What are your future career goals?
My future goals are to receive a masters in biotechnology or pharmaceutical sciences that will allow me to work for the research and development contingent of a lab company that works with drug interactions in the brain (hopefully for a drug therapy clinical trial dealing with Alzheimer’s).
- What are your hobbies? What do you like to do for fun?
My hobbies include cooking and crafting. I love to sew and tailor old clothing into new and wearable fashions as well as painting and making knickknacks for my friends and families.
- What accomplishments have you achieved while working as a tutor/teacher?
I helped a student in AP chemistry go from a B to getting a 5 on the AP test (the highest score possible on the test). I helped a student in Math Analysis go from failing and repeating the class to receiving an A and getting above 660 on the SAT quantitative reasoning section.
- What do you enjoy the most about tutoring/teaching?
I enjoy when a student smiles and actually understands the material I teach after struggling to understand it the first time from a school or previous institution. I love seeing the reaction when students realize that the material isn’t as hard or tiresome and actively wants to learn or practice more.
