- What is your experience as a tutor or teacher?
I have been a tutor for 1 ½ years. I started tutoring through the Corona/Norco District for the tutoring program One on One Learning. With One on One Learning I tutored 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students in math, reading, and writing. I was a part of the AmeriCorps State/National Program called City Year in Providence, Rhode Island. As an AmeriCorps City Year member I mentored and tutored 5th grade students for a year in math, reading, writing, attendance, and behavior. I had two partner teachers whom I assisted and collaborated with on lesson plans, and class dynamics.

- Are you open to tutoring students via Skype or another online platform?
I’m open to tutoring students via Skype or other online platform.
- What are your future career goals?
I’m going to apply for graduate school in either higher education or Non-profit management. I want to continue my career in the non-profit sector to increase interest, participation, retention and graduation in education for historically underrepresented and underserved populations. I currently work at Cal Poly Pomona as a STEM VISTA Student Coordinator/Community Liaison and will love to continue working in higher education for remaining years.
- What are your hobbies? What do you like to do for fun?
I love to draw, paint and listen to music. I try to go to art galleries and museums as often as I can. I enjoy staying active outdoors by hiking or bike riding. My goal this year is become better at rock climbing.
- What accomplishments have you achieved while working as a tutor/teacher?
My students last year improved on their behavior by displaying confidence and independence in their school work. Eight students in my reading and math groups reached grade level at the end of the school year. My biggest achievement last year was witnessing my students helping each other with class work. They worked as a team and learned how to reteach the lessons to others.
- What do you enjoy the most about tutoring/teaching?
I enjoy watching my students grow as individuals by accomplishing their goals. I want my students to be proud of their hard-work and to challenge themselves in learning new subjects.
