I enjoy exercising by swimming, jogging, and playing soccer. When it comes to an indoor activity, I like to do puzzles such as Sudoku or a 300-1000 piece puzzles, and I also enjoy playing Dota 2 with my brothers or playing the piano.
- What accomplishments have you achieved while working as a tutor/teacher?
My first student/client was a fourth grader who had trouble with 4th grade math. After two sessions, I noticed he had trouble reading numbers and working out basic addition in his head. I worked with him by being very repetitive and patient in working out the problems. During the time I was tutoring him, his mother informed me that the school had privately tested him to see if he had a learning disability, so in the process, they had him placed in 3rd grade level math. Even though he was given 3rd grade math problems, he still had trouble interpreting the problems correctly but he did not notice that. It was a strange issue but in the end, I taught him how to double check his work because it was the only way he can notice his mistakes without someone else pointing it out for him. As his tutor, I gave him confidence, patience, and skills that he benefited from using. Even though he had difficulties that were not clear, he ended up improving by at least 10%. Therefore, it shows that anyone is bound to improve if they keep trying despite the challenges.
- What do you enjoy the most about tutoring/teaching?
I enjoy making a difference in a student’s life. As a tutor, we are there to supply skills and goals for the student to achieve. It is very rewarding to see a student achieve a goal that was difficult to begin with.
