Our Prominent Articles – If you have visited our blog yet, please be sure to do so.  This month we wrote articles on the different types of intelligence, we looked at different learning styles, we took a closer look at the STAR test, we tackled the bullying problem, and we covered how to improve your child’s self-esteem in 3 different articles – learning to listen, teach your children about their culture and history, and remind them that you love them every day.  We always strive to open communication between parents, tutors, students, teachers, counselors, and anyone else invested in children’s education, so please feel free to comment on our articles and share your opinions.

With summer just around the corner, students eagerly await the moment they will get to rest and relax without having to worry about studying or doing homework; however, there are detrimental learning losses when children are on summer break.  To avoid learning loss, many researchers suggest that children get tutoring or participate in educational summer camps, during the summer, in order to retain the information they have learned during the school year and to prepare for the new information they will be learning during the new school year.  To find out more about the importance of summer tutoring click on the link and read our informative blog.

We are excited to announce the winners of our Roosevelt and Norco Share Your Passion Scholarships.  These two young ladies showed us what they are passionate about and how they will use their passions to help others.  They are both inspirational young ladies that show how passion can lead us all to achieve greatness and do it selflessly.  Read their essays to learn more about these two bright and inspirational students.

Jennifer Aneke, our Scholarship winner from Roosevelt High School, discusses the role racial discrimination has played in her life, and how she plans on becoming a lawyer in order to combat racism and help others not have to go through the same obstacles that she has gone through.

Jennifer Aneke

Similarly, Julia Schemmer, our Scholarship winner from Norco High School, talks about how her sister’s Leukemia inspired her to want to go into medicine and become a doctor in order to help people in India and Kenya.

Julia Schemmer

Students still have the opportunity to win one of the many scholarships we are offering this year.  We are giving back to our community by offering a $250 scholarship.  In order to participate, students must be from one of the schools that have had a student tutored by the Tutoring Solution – Sky Country Elementary, San Joaquin Elementary, Wickman Elementary, Eastvale Elementary, Loma Vista Elementary, Oxford Preparatory Academy, Townsend Junior High School, Roosevelt High School, Alta Loma High School, Norco High School, Centennial High School, Chino Hills High School, Ontario Christian High School, Beaumont High School, Damien High School, Colony High School, Flintridge Sacred Heart, Fontana High School, Patriot High School, South Pasadena High School and Ayala High School.  Students must simply write an essay describing what they are passionate about and how they will be using their passion in order to help others.

We are excited to be participating in GATE-together again this year.  On May 19th, we will be presenting our tips on blog writing to Elementary and Junior High School GATE students from the Chino Valley Unified School District.  GATE-together is a terrific program aimed at gifted students from 4th to 8th grade.  The students are presented with several different workshops spanning many different subjects, and they are given the opportunity to pick 3 that they are interested in.  The workshops expose these gifted students to many different subjects and they allow them to explore different ways of expressing their creativity.

In an effort to share the knowledge that we have acquired throughout the years we have written a few blog articles on topics that we are very passionate about.  Some of the more noteworthy ones are our blog articles on the benefits of Arts Educationhow to improve your child’s Critical Thinking Skills, and our School on Wheels Motivating the Unmotivated Workshop Review.

If you know someone who could benefit from our tutoring services, please pass along this newsletter or give us a call.  Our objective is to help students achieve their goals and become productive members of society, help us achieve that objective.

Thanks to our many wonderful customers, The Tutoring Solution has flourished greatly over the past few years.  Because we want to be a company devoted to improving the lives of others we have found numerous ways to give back to our community, by assisting booster clubs with volunteer work, donating our time to volunteer organizations and teaching classes to underprivileged students, all in or order to give back to our customers.  Last month, we developed a new way to give back to our community by offering five unique scholarships ranging from $100 to $250 for the students in our community.

We could not think of a better way to show our appreciation for our students and to share our excitement for higher education than by offering a scholarship that will help their future educational growth.  This scholarship is a thank you to all of you who have helped our business grow and who help share our passion for education.

Here are the scholarships we are currently offering:

The Tutoring Solution has been working hard to become more involved in the communities we serve. This month we conducted a webinar, titled Motivating the Unmotivated, for School on Wheels, an organization that provides volunteer tutoring for homeless students across Southern California. We wrote several blog posts on tutoring tips. And we reached out to more schools to expand our services and help more students succeed. As spring approaches we are gearing up for SAT and pre-SAT tutoring.

On Feburary 6, we led a talk on Motivating the Unmotivated for School on Wheels. School on Wheels is an organization dedicated to helping homeless students succeed in school despite the hardships they face.

They consider their volunteer tutors the heart of their organization. Last summer Zeb gave a presentation to the tutors on tips and techniques to motivate their students. Because of the success of his summer presentation, he was asked to give a web-seminar. The webinar was a great success. The Tutoring Solution looks forward to continuing to work with School on Wheels. If you know of other organizations making a positive impact in the lives of students in Southern California that we could work with, please let us know.

Manihi has also been focusing on motivation issues in our blog posts. She has begun to tackle testing issues in her articles as the SATs approach. We hope that our students, parents, tutors and teachers find these posts interesting and helpful. We are always open to suggestions and guest posts if you have an idea or are itching to write about a topic.

We are always looking to expand our services. We have reached out to some new schools and programs in Claremont and Upland. We really appreciate our students and parents recommending us to students they know. Thank you for your help. We also love to give back. We are interested in new opportunities to help the communities and schools we serve. We were very proud to offer our first scholarship at Norco High School. This scholarship is just the beginning of our efforts to give back!

As spring approaches we become aware of changes. The changing seasons brings changes to our natural world, but for many of our high school students the spring means thinking about big changes like preparing for college. Preparation for that amazing life change means taking the SATs or pre-SATs. We are happy to offer SAT and pre-SAT tutoring with our experienced, professional tutors. Please give us a call to set up some personalized, one-on-one SAT prep. We can help you improve on the subjects that are difficult and excel in the areas you feel good about. We can also help with test taking strategies and tips to help you perform your best on the big day!

We signed up several students this month, including students at Norco High School, Ayala High School, Chino Hills High School, and Roosevelt High School in Norco, Chino Hills, Ontario Christian and Eastvale.

We are tutoring students in Chino, Chino Hills, Eastvale, Mira Loma, Alta Loma, Ontario, Corona, Norco, and Rancho Cucamonga at Sky Country Elementary, Oxford Preparatory Academy, Townshend Junior High School, Roosevelt High School, Alta Loma High School, Norco High School, Centennial High School, Chino Hills High School, Ontario Christian High School and Ayala High School.

Education is our passion. Give us an opportunity to show how one on one tutoring can benefit your child.

It’s a new year and we’re very optimistic about what 2012 has in-store for The Tutoring Solution and the community we serve.

We hired our first employee, Manihi Kontnik. Manihi has been tutoring for us since the beginning of this school year and has done a fantastic job. Currently, she is tutoring a student in Rancho Cucamonga who attends Alta Loma High School and another student in Chino who attends Oxford Preparatory Academy. Her passion and devotion towards education along with her work ethic and organizational skills have made her the perfect candidate to assist in developing and enhancing our reputation in the community. For her first month she spent time developing and designing our first scholarship, implementing new policies and procedures for our tutors and updating our blog, Facebook, and Twitter pages.

On Saturday, January 21 we set up a booth at My Kid’s Dentist in Chino for a Community BBQ. We had a great time setting up our booth with games and gave away free pencils to all the kids who came by our booth. We also met representatives from The Frame, a hair salon located next to My Kid’s Dentist, and Wells Fargo.

On Monday, January 6 I will be conducting a webinar for School on Wheels. School on Wheels provides volunteer tutoring services for homeless students across Southern California. During the webinar, I will be discussing motivation and providing tips on how to motivate students. If you’re interested in participating or listening to the webinar let me know and I will be sure to set you up with the appropriate information.

We received our first call today for SAT Tutoring in 2012, which means the next round of SAT’s is set to begin. If you know any High School Junior’s, we can help prepare them for the SAT’s.

Already, in 2012, we are tutoring students in Chino Hills, Chino, Eastvale, Mira Loma, Alta Loma, Ontario, Corona, Norco, and Rancho Cucamonga. We tutor students in AP US History, Spanish III Honors, Spanish I, Reading, Reading Comprehension, Writing, SAT Test Prep, Algebra, Chemistry, Geometry, Algebra II, Biology, English, Astrology, Anatomy, Social Studies and several other subjects.

If you feel your student’s grades could have been higher last year or want to give them an opportunity to excel please contact us. We have a great staff of passionate educators who want to help your student(s) succeed.

For most of our students, the semester is coming to an end as the holidays are quickly approaching.

Exciting News! – We are in the beginning stages of developing a scholarship for Norco and Roosevelt High Schools.  Thanks to Counselor Jenna Gutman from Roosevelt High School, and Counselor Sherry Sanchez from Norco High School, for helping me understand the process and for promoting education at your schools.  Each scholarship will be given to a student who demonstrates a passion and desire to attend college. Focus Group – As a new company, I am eager to find ways to improve my business.  We have helped 63 students and have hired 17 tutors since we first began, over a year ago, and could use some help expanding our services.  Whatever your experience has been with us, we would love to talk to you about ways to enhance the relationship we have with our community.  If you’re interested in sharing your suggestions please reply with a phone number and an appropriate time to call so I could ask you a few questions and listen to any advice or recommendations you may have for improvement . . . or call me directly –  (909) 973 – 9089 .
