Hello Everyone,

We’re looking forward to Halloween and have been doing a lot of exciting things this past month to help promote The Tutoring Solution. We are actively advertising on Facebook, in order to build our clientele and are in talks with several local schools about starting scholarship programs. The scholarship programs will be designed to promote education and give local students some financial relief when it’s time for them to attend college.

Currently, our students come from Eastvale, Loma Vista, San Joaquin, and Sky Country Elementary Schools; Oxford Preparatory Academy; Townsend Junior High School; and Alta Loma, Beaumont, Centennial, Colony, Norco, and Roosevelt High Schools.

In order to get the most out of our company, I encourage you to join:

  • our Facebook community, by “Liking” us on Facebook – http://www.facebook.com/TheTutoringSolution
  • our Twitter community by following @TutorSolutions – http://twitter.com/#!/TutorSolutions
  • me on LinkedIn – http://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=65722555&trk=tab_pro

Each of our Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn pages will give you access to educational tips, upcoming promotions and news regarding our company. We are giving away a $20 Gift Certificate to Barnes & Noble on our Facebook page. The contest ends tomorrow, so if you would like to win a $20 Gift Certificate, be sure to sign up today.

We are always looking for ways to give back to our community. If you live in Alta Loma, Beaumont, Chino, Chino Hills, Corona, Eastvale, Mira Loma, Norco, Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga, Whittier, or the surrounding areas, and you have suggestions for ways we can give back, we’d love to hear from you.

For those of you that run your own business or know others that do, I wanted to make you aware of a new company my sister and I started over the Summer called Welborn Social Media. Welborn Social Media connects businesses with potential clients and helps to strengthen the bonds between the business and existing customers. Feel free to check out our website, www.WelbornSocialMedia.com. If you are interested in our services, we would be willing to give a free presentation about the benefits Social Media can bring to you and your business.

Hello Everyone,

School is now underway for students in our local community and we’ve been busier than ever.  We recently hired four new tutors to meet the growing demand for our services.  These new tutors are all extremely well qualified. You will be learning more about them in some of our upcoming newsletters and on our website.

Last year was our first full school year of operations. We tutored students from all across Southern California, including students from Eastvale, Loma Vista, San Joaquin and Wickman Elementary Schools; Townsend Junior High School; Alta Loma, Beaumont, Centennial, Chino, Colony, Damien, Flintridge Sacred Heart, Fontana, Norco, Ontario Christian, Patriot, Roosevelt and South Pasadena High Schools; and Cal Poly Pomona.

This year, we have acquired a variety of new students and retained many students from last school year.  These students come from Loma Vista and Sky Country Elementary Schools; Townsend Junior High School; and Alta Loma, Beaumont, Centennial, Colony, Norco, and Roosevelt High Schools.

Our tutors and our company are passionate about education.  One of our recent hires, Manihi Kontnik, has already begun to share some of her expertise with our blog readers.  You can see a couple of her blog contributions below.

As Gandhi said, “Be the change you want to see in the world.”  We hope you’ll use the links on our website to connect with communities of education professionals, familiarize yourself with current educational practices, share experiences, and be inspired to help students excel.

We are always looking for ways to give back to our community.  If you live in Alta Loma, Beaumont, Chino, Chino Hills, Corona, Eastvale, Mira Loma, Norco, Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga, Alta Loma, Whittier or the surrounding areas and you have suggestions for ways we can give back, we’d love to hear from you.

With appreciation and thanks,

Zeb Welborn

Hello Everyone,

The new school year is about to begin. We are excited for the new opportunities it will bring to The Tutoring Solution and the communities we serve.

Over the Summer, we worked on a variety of projects aimed at improving the lives of children in our community.

We gave a presentation at the 22nd Annual Chino Valley GATE Together, titled, “Be a Blogger,” where we taught students how to effectively create and run their own blogs. Watch videos and see additional information about the presentation here – http://thecatutoringsolution.com/category/community-outreach/2011-chino-valley-gate-together/

Earlier this month, I presented to a group of volunteer tutors from School on Wheels titled, “How to Motivate the Unmotivated.” We provided practical tips for tutors to use to inspire their students. School on Wheels provides free tutoring for thousands of homeless students across Southern California. For more information on School on Wheels, visit their website here – http://www.schoolonwheels.org/ or check out my posts here – http://thecatutoringsolution.com/category/community-outreach/school-on-wheels/

Our first year of operation was a huge success. Our tutors worked with 40 students to improve their work habits, study skills and grades. More importantly, I believe we left an impact that goes beyond our business. Many students developed tools to become successful after our tutoring has finished. We volunteered our time to help Booster Club programs, teach GATE students to blog and give volunteer tutors tools to help homeless children succeed in the classroom.

We also partnered with http://www.chinohillskids.net/. Chino Hills Kids gives the most current family friendly events, services and classes in and around the Chino Hills area.

For those of you who know me personally, I want to update you on an exciting new event in my life. As a result of my work on my blog, Twitter and Facebook, two companies asked me to become their Social Media consultant. The two companies are Scrapbook Expo, The Premier Scrapbook/Paper-Crafting Show in the United States and Los Serranos Country Club, in Chino Hills, CA. As a result, my sister, Lacey and I launched our own Social Media company, Welborn Social Media. Lacey has significant experience with web design, graphic design and video editing. She is also an experienced blogger and Social Media consultant. I have experience using Social Media and implementing the tools to connect people with companies they would otherwise not be connected with.

If you are interested in Social Media opportunities, give us a call: Zeb (909) 973 – 9089 or Lacey (909) 973 – 9088, or sign up for the Welborn Social Media newsletter, by responding to this email with “Welborn Social Media.”

I want to thank all of you who supported us last year. If you worked with us or received tutoring from us, we would love for you to share your experience on our Facebook page – http://www.facebook.com/TheTutoringSolution

Tell others about your experiences with us and help our community continue to grow.

Please let me know if I can help you in any way,

Zeb

Parents, Teachers, Counselors, Students, Tutors and Friends,

The school year has come to an end and from the bottom of my heart, I would like to say, “Thank You.”  Thank you to those of you who have helped spread the word about our company. Thank you to those of you who have received tutoring from us. And thank you to those of you who have tutored our students.

Our first school year of operation went better than I could have possibly imagined. Our success can be attributed to the care we take in addressing each student’s needs, to the passion of our tutors and to our students’ desire to excel.

I have witnessed first hand the strides our students have made and have seen the excitement in their faces when they understand that they have what it takes to be successful in any subject.  We have taken students who were failing every single one of their classes and have inspired them to increase their performance so that they are now passing all of their classes.  We have taken students who thought they were in danger of failing Chemistry and, within a matter of weeks, had a solid B.  We have taken students who had no hope of passing their Geometry classes and, through proper tutoring, have seen them pull grades they never thought imaginable.  We have tutored AP Chemistry students and, through constant tutoring, were able to perform exceptionally well. We have helped Elementary students grasp literary concepts and increase their reading comprehension. And we have prepared several students for the SAT’s, making them more confident, giving them the tools to perform at their best when taking that very important test.

Our Summer Creative Online Essay Writing Program is now in full swing.  The Writing Program is designed for late Elementary, Junior High and High School students.  We have had numerous people sign up for our unique writing program which is done all online. If you are interested in signing up, or know someone who might be interested, visit our Writing Program website:  http://thecatutoringsolution.com/writingprogram.html

We hope that all of you will be able to enjoy the Summer to your fullest and when the time comes, we hope that you will consider us for your tutoring needs.  When you hear of a struggling student or someone who just isn’t understanding a concept or, maybe someone who wants to increase their knowledge in a particular area you will tell them about us.
Thanks again for a wonderful year.  Have a great Summer!

Community Outreach

On Saturday, May 21, I will be presenting at The 22nd Annual GATE Together Workshop.  I will be conducting a series of classes entitled, “How to Write a Blog,” aimed at 4th through 6th graders.  My 4th grade GATE teacher, Mrs. Krupnick, invited me to present at the workshop.  I’m extremely happy and excited to be involved in a program that had such an overwhelming influence in my life, almost 20 years ago.

I have also been in contact with Natasha Bayus from School on Wheels who has asked me to develop a presentation to give to volunteer tutors on increasing motivation in students.  School on Wheels is a non-profit organization that provides free tutoring for homeless children.  In 2010, they tutored more than 1,400 students.  To find out more about School on Wheels, visit their website, http://www.schoolonwheels.org/pages/100/.

Hello Everyone,

The new semester has started for every school and this is the time to address the needs of students.  We have received many referrals from local counselors as parents are requesting extra help for their students in an effort to improve their grades.  We have been very busy this month beginning new tutoring sessions with new students and we’re excited to see this trend continue as we know the benefits that tutoring can bring to students.  I would like to especially thank Jenna Gutman and Janine Houk for sending us students who have needed help in SAT Test Prep, Geometry, Algebra II and Chemistry.

I have been extremely busy the past two month adding tips for parents, teachers, students and tutors on our blog this past month.  I have added some of our best articles below:

I also wrote my first guest blog about improving communication between parents and teachers to improve classroom behavior, titled Use the Telephone & Improve Relationships with Parents & Students, http://classroomtalk.com/?p=439.

Welcome Back,

The holidays are meant to be spent with family and friends.  The need for tutoring dies down during the month of December, which gives us an opportunity to address issues and concerns as well as seek improvement.  We have been extremely busy over the last month, from remodeling our website, to creating massive amounts of content for our new blog in order to prepare for the new semester.

For most school districts, the new semester begins in January and it’s the perfect opportunity to correct issues that your child may be having in the classroom.  If you would like to see improvement in your child’s educational goals, or you think they may need extra help, contact us.

Our website guru, Lacey Welborn, has completely renovated our website and it looks amazing.  Lacey is extremely creative and talented.  I could not be happier with the new website.  If you liked Lacey’s design or want to give her some feedback, send us an email and we will be sure that she gets the message.

Cindy De La Torre, the head of our sales department, has been working feverishly attempting to reach out to the community in a variety of different ways, including local recreation centers, school districts, and homeschooling websites.

In our last newsletter, I forshadowed the launch of The Tutoring Solution’s blog, set for January 1, 2011.  We succesfully launched the blog and have now made it our homepage, www.theCaTutoringSolution.com.  The blog provides educational tips for parents, teachers, tutors and students.  We are consistently seeking new content for our blogs, feel free to email us with suggestions for new articles.  New tips will be posted every day, so check back frequently.
