- What is your experience as a tutor or teacher?
I have tutored family members grades 2nd through 6th. While in high school I was an academic Mentor where I prepared freshman students with the transition into high school through facilitated academic discussions and confidence building activities. Most recently I worked in the UCR Sleep and Cognition lab where I taught participants how to use the computer-based tasks.
- What subjects are you best at?
Math and English at the Elementary level, Middle School and High School level. I can tutor Math up to Pre-Algebra, Geometry, and Algebra 1. I can also tutor Environmental and Earth Science at all levels.
- What is your schedule like? What days and times are you available to tutor?
I am available MWF 12pm-9pm Tuesdays and Thursdays after 7pm and most weekends.
Tutor’s schedule is subject to change.
- What school are you currently attending? What degrees are you working towards?
I am currently attending University of California, Riverside. I will be graduating in Spring 2016 with a B.S. in Environmental Sciences.
- What cities can you tutor in (i.e. how far are you willing to drive to tutor)?
I am willing to tutor within 25 miles of Riverside.
- Are you open to tutoring students via Skype or another online platform?
- What are your future career goals?
With my degree I aspire to teach or conduct research in the field. After experience working in the field, I plan to pursue a graduate degree in education or environmental planning and management.
- What are your hobbies? What do you like to do for fun?
I love to play sports. I am part of a women’s intramural flag football team at UCR. I also enjoy cooking and reading. I am passionate about the environment and enjoy hikes and learning about new issues and technologies.
- What accomplishments have you achieved while working as a tutor/teacher?
What I find most rewarding about being a tutor is seeing each student feel confident about a subject they used to find difficult. It is always great to see students feel comfortable learning new material because they now have the confidence to put the time and effort into understanding the material. I strive to produce positive results with each student I work with.
- What do you enjoy the most about tutoring/teaching?
I enjoy teaching students how to learn. By explaining concepts in different ways I have helped students become more prepared and empowered to learn. Additionally, I enjoy being a positive role model and mentor.
