- What is your experience as a tutor or teacher?
I have two younger brothers which I help very often. One is in high school and he usually needs help with his pre-calculus class or writing papers for English. I also go to local high schools for the tutoring program “Upward Bound” and help underprivileged students with their homework and college information. They have all sorts of classes I help them with from regular to AP college courses.
- What subjects are you best at?
I am best in mathematics (up to calculus), biology (up to the college level), chemistry (up to the college level), and general high school physics. I really enjoy biology.
- What is your schedule like? What days and times are you available to tutor?
I am available Mondays and Wednesdays at 6:30 PM, Tuesdays and Fridays all afternoon, and Thursdays after 5 PM.
Tutor’s schedule is subject to change.
- What school are you currently attending? What degrees are currently working towards?
I attended Claremont High School and I am currently working on my Bachelors at California Polytechnic State University, Pomona. This is my fourth year at Cal Poly and my major is Environmental Biology, but I am switching to General Biology soon.
- What cities can you tutor in (i.e. how far are you willing to drive to tutor)?
I can drive to tutor in just about any city, I am near the 10 freeway in Pomona.
- Are you open to tutoring students via Skype or another online platform?
- What are your future career goals?
I will be applying to medical school in mid-2015, I am interested in surgery, neonatal, and eyes.
- What are your hobbies? What do you like to do for fun?
I enjoy going hiking with my pug. I also love going to music festivals and playing video games when I have time.
- What accomplishments have you achieved while working as a tutor/teacher?
I have gained a better understanding of the subjects I tutored. I feel like this is an excellent way to prepare for the MCAT test which covers a variety of subjects. As I teach others I help better my own understanding. My brother has definitely benefited from my help with his math classes, he is doing well in his classes.
- What do you enjoy the most about tutoring/teaching?
I enjoy helping the students understand, and I enjoy the challenge that comes with teaching. It feels really great to get an idea to click for students. Also to watch them succeed and encourage them to go further. I like getting to know the students and get them thinking about shooting high for their goals.
